Lighthouses are some of the last remaining reminders of the romantic era with the sea. A time when life was simple and the pace slower. The Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse is one of the most beautiful lights standing on the rocky coast of Maine's Mount Desert Island.

Is it 1908 or 2008. One can almost imagine a powerful steam locomotive pulling a line of freight cars down these tracks to deliver goods to the cities and towns along this route. Looking down these tracks is like taking a step back in time to a much more simple era.

Summer Rain


A little boy climbs down from his window seat after watching a mid-afternoon rainstorm. He was fascinated by heavy rain pounding on the pavement just outside the window. The sunshine, now signaling the end of the storm, it is time to start playing again.

Sunrise Over "Nubble" Lighthouse


It is just a few degrees above freezing as the sun begins to rise behind the Cape Neddick ("Nubble") Lighthouse. Only a few brave souls have come out to view the sunrise this morning as the windchill makes the tempertures feel like the lower 20's.

Hot Day on the Rails


As the temperature sores to near 100 degrees, the crew of this freight train does everything they can to stay cool. A normally busy area for pedestrians and passengers waiting for one of the passenger trains, the train station is eerily quiet this day as people try to stay cool. Even the clouds offer little relief as the sun ducks behind one occasionally.
